David Smukler has been dancing since the mid-sixties, and calling for dances since 1981. He is an engaging teacher who presents a wide variety of dances, including plenty of New England contras, assorted squares, singing calls, triplets, mixers, old chestnuts and freshly minted dances. David is also known as the author of a column about classic contras ("Cracking Chestnuts") that appears in the Country Dance and Song Society's CDSS News.
